Monthly Board Meetings

The Board meets the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 PM, (usually) at the Holiday Inn Express by I-85, with the exception of July when the Board does not meet. Notice of Board meetings are posted at the Lafayette Drive entrance. Email notifications are also sent out to residents.

Residents and property owners may obtain copies of the CHPOA Board Meeting Minutes by requesting them through the Property Manager (use "Contact" tab above).

CHPOA Committees

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee meets about 8 times a year. This committee is responsible for helping to develop the budget for the Association, arranging for an annual review of Association financial records, and recommending financial policies and procedures to the CHPOA Board. Current members: George Higgins (chair), Diane Darlington and Al Soulier (treasurer). Also Carla Keck (not pictured).

Architectural Committee

As mandated by the Cornwallis Hills Covenants, the Architectural Committee reviews applications for all structures and improvements constructed in the neighborhood. The committee performs both pre- and post-construction reviews and helps develop architectural guidelines to maintain and improve property value of our association members. Current members include (left to right): Margo Pinkerton, Neil Stutzer, Jennifer Carson. Also John Ackerley (not pictured).

Communications Committee

The members of the Communications Committee work at fostering open and efficient communication between residents, the CHPOA Board, and it's committees. The Communications Committee helps oversee and provide guidance to the Board regarding the Cornwallis Hills newsletter and website. Members include (left to right): Gayane Chambless, Christie Martin-Gray, Sandy Silverman, and Hillary Mackenzie. Also Al Soulier (not pictured).

Covenants Revision Committee

The members of the Covenants Review Committee worked long and hard on helping to draft a new and updated revision of the Cornwallis Hills Covenants. The Board approved of the changes recommended by the committee in May 2008 and now the group is charged with asking all property owners to read the proposed Covenants and sign the revised version. This is a challenging task but the committee is up to it! Members include (left to right): Sandy Silverman,
Al Soulier, Derek Hales, Diane Darlington, Jo Soulier, and Kamela Godfrey.

Community Watch

An active Community Watch program is vital to a crime-free and secure neighborhood.   Here in Cornwallis Hills we have a very active program with different levels of involvement.  The first point of contact for many is with our Block Captains.  As big as Cornwallis Hills is, we tend to know one another based on our "area", or block.  Block captains help by being a point of contact, knowing the residents along that part of the street and helping to share information as needed. Our Community Watch Chair is Gayane Chambless. A list of current Block Captains and their contact information can be found in the Neighborhood Directory.

Annual Dues

The dues notifications are sent out the third week in December of every year, but for planning purposes, please note:
  • 2011 Property Assessments are $148.00 per lot and are due by January 1, 2011
  • Payments made February 1, 2011 or later are considered late and will incur interest charges and other penalties..

Proposed New Covenants

The Cornwallis Hills Property Owners' Association was established back in the 80's. Since then, times have changed, and your Board realized that we needed to bring the Covenants into the 21st century. After many, many months of careful deliberation and numerous rewrites, your neighbors on the Covenants Committee, with input from your Board, has crafted a document appropriate for our association.

We need notarized signatures from 75% of the owners in the neighborhood to be able to enact these new Covenants.

Please read them. You will be getting notices about when and where you can sign the proposed changes. In reponse to a number of requests, we have posted a before-and-after document, which shows the changes (additions and deletions) to the original documents.
